Paper Diya Craft 3 in 1 for Diwali (Garland, Card or Wall Decor)

A wonderful 3 for 1 craft for Diwali. As the festival of lights, Diwali themes, include traditional “diyas”. A diya is small traditional oil lamp, usually made from clay and used during sacred festivals in the Indian subcontinent, particularly Diwali. Diya themed crafts are therefore perfect for the Diwali season.

This paper diya is a great 3 for 1 activity. You can make them as a little decorative Diwali garland, make them as greetings or make them as “large” diyas to go on bulletin boards or classroom doors. The template comes in a variety of sizes – so you can pick the one that best suits your classroom needs.

Students can practice their tracing and cutting skills as well as have a go at some basic paper quilling to make a paper flame and the decorative elements of the diya.
